Super moisturizing light emulsion recipe

Have you been thinking to make your own moisturizer and looking for a recipe? This is my favorite face moisturizer. I am too busy to use multiple skin care products, and I wanted multi-tasking moisturizer which does all.

  • Hydrating skin all day long
  • Repair UV damage quickly
  • Anti-aging (works for wrinkles, unbalanced skin condition, etc..)
  • Reasonable cost (so that I can use on whole body)
  • No greasy and sticky feeling
  • Doesn't affect the make up

I tried quite few recipes to make my own creams and emulsions. And, this moisturizer covers all of the criteria above. I used Macadamia Nut and Rosehip oils, and Green Tea Leaf extract. But, you can choose other oils and extracts. Some other popular oils such as coconut, avocado, marula, and moringa oils are heavier and they could cause clogged pores and you may want to avoid using them on your face. They are good for body care though.

Polyglyceryl-3 is an emulsifier which binds oil and water and prevents the separation. It is also an emollient and conditions skin. If you really want 100% natural alternative, Liquid Sunflower Lecithin is the top recommendation. Lecithin gives deeper moisturizing effect without greasiness. Lecithin can be made from soy beans or sunflower seeds, and comes in powder or liquid formats. I used liquid sunflower lecithin because it can be mixed easily with oils without heating up.

The cost for ingredients is very reasonable, and super easy to make! If you want to try yourself as well, download the recipe.
